Lindy picked this recipe for me. She knows of my long standing love for graham crackers.
Before I even knew I was pregnant with Baby Girl I was craving graham crackers like a madwoman. With peanut butter. Yum. Safe to say Baby Girl might have the same graham cracker obsession as her mama.
The recipe:
I used about 1/3 the amount of sugar. I also left out the nuts in favor of more graham crackers! It's preferable. At which point I'm wondering how the plain applesauce inside becomes anything but plain applesauce. Pudding? I'm having some doubts.
Graham cracker crumbs getting happy with butter and sugar. Also known as - my new favorite cereal. I mean I didn't eat sample any with the spoon.
In the pie pan. At which point I continued to wonder why this pie was called a pudding. Was something magical going to happen to the applesauce at such high temperatures? I'm sure hoping so!
The boys loved the smell and were calling it simply graham cracker pudding. I didn't correct them for the hope that they would eat some and accidentally ingest some fruit.
Junior even begged me to save him some when he realized I was taking it to Lindy's.
At Lindy's house I discovered nothing magical happened to the applesauce. Her kiddos (sans Roo, who was not allowed to partake), LOVED it. They asked for seconds. Because CC and Audy were there they got it! I tried to leave some for Little Man to enjoy the next day, but his Mama said no. :(
When I got home from Lindy's and my family got home from church, both boys quickly requested to have a piece. Neither one liked it. The main complaint? "This tastes JUST like applesauce." Uh. Yeah. APPLESAUCE-Graham Cracker Pudding.
Anyway.
I don't think I would make this one again. I'd rather eat applesauce and graham crackers separately. Or even at the same time. Just not in a pie plate with extra sugar.
